A leader is a person in front of other many people as for directing them. It is not only a person, but it can also be an insect or an animal in the first line showing them the direction. In the context of sport, a leader is a person who is leading a race.
Us in Africa, we have a number of says about a leader. One of these proverbs is "A leader is a dumping bin". It means that when something go wrong, the blame must be on the leader. Even if it doesn't concern or doesn't relate to the leader the will be on the leader.
It isn't easy to receive blame or critics and our leaders don't receive blames and critics.
Critics and blames are good because when you receive them, they make one to be perfect. They make perfect if we practice them. I can say that this proverb works only with our traditional leaders because they are the one who invented them.
It this proverb works with our traditional leaders, why our African presidents are they resisting to these words of wisdom? Our traditional leaders were rulling in a democratic system and they were consulting their communities contrary to nowadays leaders who are dictators.

A Point of View of a Street Man
From my point of view as a street man, I observed that most of our African countries are poor because of our leaders who have to agree every donation and loan from the western countries. You, if you are in debt with someone; you became his slave. I mean that you'll not be in peace up to the time you pay debtor.
Today African countries became slaves of western countries because of debts and blind pacts with these countries.
African governments cannot device for the best of their citizens and their wellbeing.
African presidents are too narcissist and cannot represent their countries. Africans need a new type of president who might stand for them.
African countries are too rich but because of the reasons I enumerated before, these presidents can only choose to fill their own pockets for the wellbeing of the family members.
I'm not shifting the blame but it's just a view of a street man.
Arabic countries initiated the Arab revolution which some central African countries couldn't make and we all know the results. Inegality, injustice and others characterised our leaders except a small number of the Southern Africa.
Africa is facing a problem of fake oppositions. These fake oppositions are the one calling the good population for dead towns and strikes and as a result of their wrong doing, they mislead the public which lost the culture of work.
I can remember in the years 1989 - 1999, people could be seen gathered to the newspapers because they were diverted from work to politics. Politics is not for everyone, there must be workers and people who are dealling with the affairs of the countries but in some african countries everyone want to be politicians.
Africa needs a new wave of politicians and leaders.

A Conversation with Friends
Today morning I was measuring some beans, some friends who were passing by asked me how many the packet contained and I answered the that that bags contained twelve kilogrammes. My friends told me that they appeared to be less than the answer I gave them but I insisted that they were twelve.
I took an other bag and weight it in their presence but yet could not believe my scale and they discussed again.
I could not have argument to continue discussing but I told them this:"If you are discussing with the scale, you'll even discuss with God during the day of judgement".
It's good to discuss but we have also to see what discussing and not only for the sake of discussing.

My School Holidays
During my school holidays, after work at the field with my grand mother, I was spending my free time with old men who were working irons making knives, hoes, and other important materials. I really enjoyed spending time with these people who could have the same age with my father. I learnt lessons and melt some important instruments, copper and many of them.
The most important of all were the advises I learnt from these experienced people. When my fellow young people were busy playing, I preferred to spend my free time with men because in the town where I was studying, I could not get any opportunity to be with men and get any knowledge.
Sometimes these old people could entertain themselves through proverbs and as I could not get anything from their conversation, I could just lough but at the end of the conversation they were teaching me the meaning of the proverb.
This is where I learnt this proverb: "Men are at the mortars and women at the iron-works" it means 'upside down.'
My village was just a simple one without electricity and televisions. It was the time of radiocassets. Only some family could own a radiocasset, men were enjoying spending their free time forging iron and young were learning skills from these fathers.

African Communities Today
Today in our African community the rate of crime is increasing, streets children are increasing as well and we are not attacking the root of this problem but we just condemn this one and the other one without considering the root and attack it.
In the 70-80s when I was growing up to move with a knife was a serious problem with the police and also with our community as well. People who were moving with a knife were considered as criminals and delinquents. But nowadays, some of us we are surprised to see young people moving with these weapons like knives, swords, pistols...
The big problem today in Africa is our leaders. We have a serious problem with out leaders because when they allow the selling of weapons like swords...it means that they officialize the ownership of weapons and they have also to face the consequences.
Today we've delinquent government which are champions in desorders and anarchy.
To the other side there is these failing parents with divorce problem and they cannot raise together children. When two parents divorce, there is a serious problem of education of problem which a single parent have to deal with. God created a man and a woman. There was not a child but when we decide to make a child, we have also to commit ourselves to raise again these or this children or child to educate him or them. Parents are also failing their mission.
Communities are paying the price today because our governments failled and they cannot fulfil their mission. Governments cannot protect their citizens when every years budgets are being allocated to the government for this purpose.
If communities also are suffering it's because of tribalism and regionalism in our countries. We like only our own people fr our tribes and it is very dangerous for the development of these countries we are claiming to be ours. When it comes to choosing leaders, we privileges our tribe instead of our country. Communities must wake up and forget about themselves for the goodness of their countries.
Dear Africans living in this rich continent, let us not be egoist because this is our heritage and the heritage for our children and grand children, we will be accountable of this continent one day; let us be realistic when it comes for choosing leaders and making any decision for our countries and our communities.

My Memory as an Editorialist
In 2006, when working with the Association for the Defense of Refugee Right; I was leading this organization and I was the editorialist of the Voice of Refugees.
Voice of Refugees was a newsletter published in Osire Refugee Camp with the aim if informing refugees, national and international opinion about the violations refugees and asylum seekers were going through.
A number of article and reportage were signed on my behalf as I was the author.
After publishing, I could be called by the refugees authorities to explain to them about some articles and I was going to them.
The article I will never forget for the history of ADR and his baby ADR is the one I wrote about out of school and drop out school children. In my article, I also inform the community and authorities about some families where children were kept home with reason that children were hate by teachers or at school teachers and learners were witchcrafts.
Some months ago I published the said article, I visited all the children and their relatives telling them to register again to school but the could not follow my advise, imagine what could I do? Just to take my pen and jot some words in a paper and let everyone to know the reality on these children who could not attend classes because their parents didn't study when they were in the age of being schooled.
As the newsletter was read, everyone was talking about the article and officers called me for precision's so they they may take decisions.
Families were called to the offices as a result, a family came to fight me at home to threaten me and my family. My children were in trouble because in their way to school or back home they were being beaten every day. As it was too much now, I took the issue to the police station where we were counsel and it stopped.
Among the families in the list, 99.9% of children were taken back to school and the 0.9% decided to keep those children at home. There was not any reason to keep these children home because their futures were in danger.
To misunderstand is the result of someone in power and giving advice. My purpose of writing this article was just a warry of the future of these children who were denied the right of schooling by their own parents in this era of technology

Substance Abuse With Our Young People
Substance abuse among becomes a subject which is alarming to our young people. Seventy- five percent of our young people today are involved in substance abuse.
Substance abuse is a forebode today.
The kind of substance which are being used today can be traditional alcohol for some and these whiskies produced by the Chinese industry. There are also marijuana, Tik and many others.
It is a forebode as I said to everyone because these young people either they will become dependent on ourselves or they will be dangerous to their community and ourselves. Adults are responsible for the production of these substances our young people are being abused. Young people supposed to be productive because their the future of tomorrow. In my community, most of these youth engaged in substance abuse are just thiefs and their the ones engaged in all kind of abuse.
I also found that young people are being used to sell these substances instead of sending them at school or engage them in productive works.
I can say that if we are using somebody child for making for me money or being engaged in illegal activities, it means that we are very dangerous and we can do the same with our own children. My question is that, how come that we protect our children for exposing those children because we know that they are poor or their parents are far from where we live?
Alcohol abuse and other kinds of substances are killing our society slowly by slowly and we have to take action.
What are we doing to protect our society or community?

New Product
As a sports lover, I'd like to inform the readers of SPORTS AFRIKA Magazine that it will be published here. Sports Afrika Magazine is being published on Facebook and it had more than 400 readers.
On Facebook readers were invited to contribute to this magazine but unfortunately none of them could do it.
Between sports and it politics, I prefere sports, I cannot explain why but I am a passionate of sports. With sports you'll just be happy and not stressed when we know that the rule of the game is that the result can be a win, a loose or a draw.
When my team losses I cannot be sick because that is the rule. There must be a winner and a loosed or we draw.
I know a relative who when his team loose, noone will be in peace at home that evening. He'll not eat and you'll not eat especially if you are fan of the opposing team.
For me, I win or loose it is normal. During the time I was a chairperson of the sports committee in my community, players and coaches of my teams couldn't understand me because every time I was happy even if my teams loose.
The field of sports is a best one for me because of the freedom which is there.

A Remedy for Malaria
In the south Katanga, visitors were surprised that there was no malaria at all. When people from towns and other villages where busy looking for protecting themselves from getting bite by mosquitoes, in that village people were free because they didn't know this kind of sickness. Malaria. It was unknown from villagers but the head of the village knew that malaria exists.
To all new arrival in the village, the chief's task was to prescribe the terrible vegetable which was bitter but very important for protecting against malaria.
One supposed to eat this vegetable three times per week for new arrivals in the village and it helps really.
The name of this vegetable was called Mutete others were calling it mboga buchungu.
I was young and I was thinking why this plant could not be studied to see if it could help the treatment of malaria in our African countries.
Mutete or mbiga buchungu, an important vegetable as a malaria prevention. Mutate cannot confused with Mutyetye. Mutyetye is salty contrary to Mutete which is bitter. Maybe our scientist from Congo DR can test it, I hope that even those from Zambia could know it.

Youth Activities
These are the youth I coached during the period I was a Sport Coordinator. Today after 4 years, these young people are the ones involved in senior teams and under 20 teams of the Osire soccer and others are in different teams around the country.
I always remember the words of a wise man who was telling us that "when you rendering a service to someone you have to do it correctly because from that you'll be blessed. These are words which encourage me when I'an engaged doing something for someone who asked me a service. These young people will be always remembering me for the coaching provided to them. This work I was not doing it for money but for passion of helping.
Today I am working as a community worker, my work is to encourage women, men, girls and boys to be engaged in productive works and also to volunteer because there will not always money to pay everyone. Each and everyone must be engaged in entrepreneurship.
I worked with youth from churches as well those from the community. I remember when I started working with youth in Namibia, because of the language I choose to remain home because many youth were speaking Portuguese and English. It was not easy to interact with people but when I started articulating some words of English and Portuguese it helps me to come close to the youth and I can assure my readers that sport has only one language. You speak French, I speak Portuguese we can communicate. Dancers, singers, soccer players... felt to be to my side because they could translate my words in French and I could also do the same.
Youth activities are a passion for me and even if I'm not in this age I'm still young. I can remember someone who told my colleagues that this man will not get old, he will be young forever. When we are involved in youth activities, we remain young.

FROM ACTIVISM TO LEADERSHIP
From June 2002 I and my fellow asylum seekers in Osire decided to start the Association for the Defense of Refugee Rights in Namibia and the organization succeeded in all out claims.
In 2009 as the government and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugee were working on the interest of refugees and asylum seekers, as the chairperson of the association; decided to quit with the activities. It was a success for us to start something and achieve it. Many of the people we started with left and they went to betray the plans of the association to the Namibian authorities but I remain firm up to the time I decided to stop with activities in Osire as well as in Namibia.
Before we quit, we were accused if many things that we were collaborating with the government but we remind our accusers that the aim of ADR was to claim from the government of Namibia and UNHCR refugee status and all the previlleges the status can give an the two institutions responded to all our claims. If the government responded positively to our requests, what else are we going to claim? There is no need for us to stand and make noise.
Sometimes our feelings can mislead us and we have to be careful.
In 2012, I was appointed as a secretary for the refugee leadership. After some times, the chairperson got problems which could not allow him to continue working and he was stepped down. I will be appointed as the deputy chairperson of the refugee leadership. The new chairperson could not remain in Osire, she joined her husband to Windhoek and for some months I worked with her from the capital city and I was the one in the field with other member of the executive committee.
I July 2013, the other stakeholders decided that she could not lead from Windhoek and they confirmed me as the acting chairperson of the refugee leaders.
End 2012 I wrote to the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration and UNHCR to inform them that my mandate came to end and a new leadership needs to be elected and take over, but the two stakeholders and others who were present in the meeting decided to take me and my colleagues to our position. The reason was that refugee resettlement to third countries will involve many people, for this reason it needs time to come up with elections.
I was the last leader to work with UNHCR, after five years; I organized elections after resigning from my position because I was tired with leading.
That is how I became a refugee leader for years. When I resigned, all the authorities were not happy and they wanted that I can continue working or can apply and run for elections but I told them that refugees want a new leader I hope I worked and do what God wanted me to do.
I'm not special if stakeholders wanted me to remain in my position, but I think it's because I worked with them as a professional without con confusing work and friendship. For me as a refugee and human rights activist, yes is yes and no is no. I do respect the rights of everyone, I know myself and this brought me problems. I'm not simple really and it's not easy to corrupt me. They asked me once if I was a Congolese because people from Congo can be corrupted easily. For me I learnt from ADR to be uptight. Also as a Christian, the Bible tought me to love my neighbours and also be upright.
I live you and cannot create any lye on your behalf.
I worked to honnor my Association, the ADR and finally my God who sent Jesus-Chist to die for my sins.

Activism (Part Two)
In June two thousand and two I met with Mac Lushimba, a refugee as I was. He revealed to what he was thinking about the kind of life we were living in the Osire Refugee Camp. At that time, I and others were simple asylum seekers and there were no expectation of any RSD (Refugee Status Determination). Mac told me that he thought that we could start a movement which will make a pressure to the government of Namibia so that they can interview people in the camp and they can be issued with refugee status.
As Mac was the visionary he had the task to contact other people for this idea. Donat Kamiji, Germaine Tchabu, Eddy Mpiana, Peter Mudimba(+) were also contacted and they also shared the same ideas with me and Mac.
Some days later, we started writing our constitution and the main writer was the late Mr. Peter Mudimba.
After writing the constitution, we introduced it to the community of asylum seekers, many people adhered to this constitution. Some after the introduction of the association to the community, intimidation and harrassment started from the local police and the camp administrator.
A certain Monday he invited all the people who adhered to the Association and he intimidated members and the next day people started resigning from the association.
I could not resign because this association was my baby and I was the one to protect it.
We called the association ADR (Association for the Defense of Refugee Rights). I and my colleagues went through difficult situation but we stand firm up to the day the government decided to interview all asylum seekers.
I remember one day I and my colleagues were invited by the UNHCR officials to discuss about the ADR activities. The question I retain from that meeting after 16 years is "what after refugee status is granted to you, what are you going to claim?"
It was not easy, we had a great task to teach our members to be bound to the laws of the country otherwhise we will be deported by the government. Our members were really good in observing rules and laws of the our country of asylum.
There were two people who were complicating the life of refugees, the Namibia Commissioner for Refugees and the Administrator of the Camp. They could wake up and implement any rule as for example the Administrator of the camp could decide that there is no exit permit today, and the chairperson could call the Commissioned for refugees and if there is no successful feedback, he could call NamRights which was an ADR partner.
If today refugees and asylum seekers are living a life with dignity, it because of this organization led by a worth son of Namibia called Phil ya Nangolo.
Ya Nangolo is a great human rights defender without any discrimination. He needs to be rewarded by the world.
Many thanks to people and organizations like US Refugee and immigrant for the support they gave to asylum seekers and refugees in Namibia.
I volunteered so that refugee life in Namibia improve. Today refugees are being interviewed and others are being resettled to the third countries for those who need international protection.

Activism
An activism is a person who works to achieve political or social change, especially as a member of an organization with particular aims.
I worked like a refugee and immigrant activism from 2002 up to 2010. I quitted this work because pressure was too much on me and my family in a foreign country. My work as a refugee and immigrant activism was very risky as I worganizing and protuing youth activaour community.
I was always interpellated by the police and the ministry of Home Affairs. I was afraid that one day I will be either killed or arrested for years.
It was not easy as you know to work as an activist in a foreign country. I and my colleagues were protecting these category of people and ourselves were also in need of protection.
A part from this activity, I was also a youth activist working under the Africa Humanitarian Action. I works with youth for a number of years and it becomes a passion for me. To promote youth activities, I got trained as a referee and a coach of athletics and official for athletics. I trained many young people to become good soccer, basketball, volleyball and netball players and also good athletes. I resigned in 2017 and I decided to remain in office as a counselor. Youth need counseling, school goers or not; both of them need counseling.
I was organizing these you activities with the money from my own pocket when the organization could not support us and the youth.
I also worked as a gender activist. As a gender active activist, my task was to help my fellow men that male or female all we have the same rights.
It was not simple but I and my other fellow men we tried our best and today men can give a voice to women because of the work we did in our community.
To serve the community is very important. I like volunteering because I am impacting lives through what I am doing.

Home is Home
The Democratic Republic of Congo is my country of origin.
In 2001, I left this country because of problems related to war. I wished to remain in my country all my life but unfortunately, I was obliged to live everything behind and save my life.
Living far from my beloved ones is not easy at all. All the projects I had for the development of the lives of my relatives and mycountry could not be fulfilled because I was obliged to far from them and the country. Sometimes I think going back and do what I supposed to do but my friends who are living other in DRC use to advise me to remain again for a while because Pharaoh still alive.
One day my country will be saved and all the children of that country will go back to their country.
It is not easy to live in a country where you forwigners in the country.belong. I remember in 2002 how foreigners were treated here in Namibia by nationals, words like "this is Namibia my friend", "when are you going back to your country of origine" ... were common to me and other friends from other countries.
I lived 10 years and more without work because I was a non Namibian. My qualification could not give me any work. When I tried to go and seek for a work permission, I was tuold to create work opportunities city so that sons and daughters ofnNamibia couldnalso employs.
From this experience, I came up w ith the ideanto stna small business for baking breads. My products were appreciated by all nationals as well as foreigners. I multiplie because of the quality of my products.

. This is just to let know my fellow citizen and also who ever will read these lines that life in a foreign country is not simple as we use to think. There is a say which says: "Home is home". That is true. Hat home you can refuse to work some kind of works but in a foreign country because what you need is to survive, you will pick any work.
There people who are travelling in bad conditions with hope that where they are going life will be stable but when they reach in the country of destination the reality is different, totally different.
Home is home, for those who are still in their respective countries they can just remain there and to try doing something because in a foreign country the authorities of that country are working tirelessly so that their citizens can live a good llike natural disasters, war... it is correct because everyone has right to life and have the responsibility to protect his life.
Theis correct!
Home is home and we can live better only at home.uthorities of this particular country are not working for illegal immigrants, not at all.
There can be some circumstances which can oblige someone to live his country like like natural calamities, war... and we've the right to protect this life. That is correct!
